Natiq Licensing and Copyright Notice

1. Application source code

When publicly released, the original Natiq application source code is licensed under the:

Apache License, Version 2.0

SPDX identifier:

Apache-2.0

The complete official Apache License 2.0 text must be included in the root `LICENSE` file of the source-code distribution.

Until source code is publicly released under that license, unpublished Natiq source code remains copyrighted by Amir Alaushen and no public software license is granted merely by this notice.

2. Educational content

Unless specifically stated otherwise, original Natiq educational content is:

This may include Natiq-created:

vocabulary compilation and organization;
Arabic meanings;
pronunciation guidance;
IPA information;
example sentences;
Arabic translations;
mnemonics and memory aids;
educational metadata;
pronunciation audio;
other original educational content.

Use of material under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 remains subject to the conditions of that license, including applicable attribution, non-commercial-use, and ShareAlike requirements.

3. Pronunciation audio

Original pronunciation audio supplied with Natiq was created and is owned by Amir Alaushen.

Unless specifically stated otherwise, this Natiq-created pronunciation audio is included within the educational content licensed under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0.

4. Natiq branding

The following are not granted under the Apache License 2.0 or CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 merely because they are distributed with or associated with Natiq:

the Natiq name;
the Natiq Application name;
Natiq logos;
application icons;
distinctive branding;
visual identity;
trademarks or service marks;
trade dress.

All rights in Natiq branding are reserved by Amir Alaushen except where express written permission is granted.

The Apache License 2.0 permits use of covered source code according to its terms, but it does not grant permission to falsely represent a modified or redistributed version as an official Natiq release.

5. Modified versions

Where permitted by the applicable software license, anyone may create or redistribute modified versions of the Apache-licensed source code.

Unless expressly authorized by Amir Alaushen, a modified version must not:

claim to be an official Natiq release;
imply endorsement by Natiq Application;
use protected Natiq branding in a misleading manner.

Modified versions remain responsible for their own behavior, privacy practices, security, distribution, and legal compliance.

6. Contributions

Educational contributions voluntarily submitted to Natiq may be incorporated into the Natiq educational dataset under the applicable contribution terms.

Contributors should submit only material that they created themselves or have sufficient rights to license.

Where a contribution is accepted under the Natiq educational-content contribution terms, it may be edited, incorporated, published, and redistributed under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0.

Submission does not guarantee acceptance.

Contributor email addresses and personal contact information are not intended to become part of the public educational dataset.

7. Third-party materials

Natiq may include third-party software, fonts, libraries, tools, or other materials.

Those materials remain governed by their respective licenses and copyright notices.

Third-party licenses should be identified separately in the source distribution and/or application's open-source notices as required.

8. Recommended repository files

A public Natiq source repository should include:

9. Suggested NOTICE file

The following may be used as the starting content of the Natiq `NOTICE` file:

The Natiq application source code is licensed under the Apache License, Version 2.0.

Natiq educational content and pronunciation audio are separately licensed under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 unless otherwise stated.

The Natiq name, logo, icons, and other branding are not licensed under the Apache License 2.0 or CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 merely by being included with the project.

Third-party materials remain subject to their respective licenses.

10. Suggested source-code header

For original source files where a license header is used:

You may obtain a copy of the License from the official Apache License 2.0 distribution.
