Natiq Terms of Use
Effective date: 31 October 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the official Natiq application ("Natiq" or the "App").
Natiq Application is developed and operated by Amir Alaushen in Saudi Arabia.
Website: NatiqApplication.com
Email: natiq.application@gmail.com
By downloading, installing, or using Natiq, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree with these Terms, do not use the App.
1. About Natiq
Natiq is a language-learning application designed to help learners develop receptive vocabulary through learning, recall testing, and repeated review.
Natiq is primarily designed to work offline.
Features may include:
- vocabulary learning;
- pronunciation audio;
- self-assessment;
- tests and reviews;
- learning goals;
- statistics;
- reminders;
- local learner profiles;
- optional profile PINs;
- local backups;
- learning estimates;
- content-contribution tools.
2. Educational purpose
Natiq is an educational tool.
Natiq does not guarantee:
- fluency;
- speaking ability;
- writing ability;
- examination results;
- academic results;
- employment outcomes;
- a particular vocabulary level;
- a particular learning speed;
- completion within a specific period.
Learning estimates, pace estimates, statistics, projections, and completion estimates are informational only.
Actual results differ between learners and may depend on prior knowledge, study habits, review behavior, external language exposure, and other factors.
3. Self-assessment
Parts of Natiq rely on learners honestly indicating whether they remembered a word.
Natiq cannot independently determine what you remembered mentally.
Learners are responsible for answering self-assessment prompts honestly if they want Natiq's progress information to reflect their actual learning.
4. Local profiles
Natiq may allow multiple learner profiles on one device.
These profiles are local application profiles and are not Natiq online accounts.
Users of shared devices are responsible for selecting the appropriate profile.
5. Optional PIN
A profile may be protected with an optional PIN.
The PIN is intended primarily to reduce casual or accidental access on a shared device.
It is not intended to replace:
- device security;
- operating-system protections;
- encryption;
- secure online authentication.
You should not treat the Natiq PIN as protection against a determined person who already has access to your device or application data.
6. Backups
Natiq may allow you to create password-protected local backup files.
You are responsible for:
- creating backups when desired;
- selecting where exported backups are stored;
- protecting backup files;
- remembering backup passwords;
- maintaining copies of important backups.
Natiq Application cannot recover a forgotten backup password.
Deleting information inside Natiq does not automatically delete backup copies previously exported elsewhere.
Third-party applications or storage providers that you choose to use are governed by their own terms and privacy practices.
7. Learning data and deletion
Natiq may provide different data-management actions, including:
- resetting an individual word;
- resetting vocabulary;
- erasing learning data;
- deleting a profile.
These actions do not necessarily have the same effect.
Natiq will attempt to explain the consequences before significant destructive actions are completed.
A deleted local profile may remain recoverable for up to 30 days before permanent deletion.
Previously exported backups are separate copies and are not automatically affected.
8. Notifications
Natiq may provide optional local reminders.
Notification delivery depends partly on the device and operating system and cannot be guaranteed.
A delayed, blocked, missing, or duplicated notification does not alter the actual learning state stored by Natiq.
9. Educational content
Natiq contains educational materials that may include:
- English words;
- Arabic meanings;
- example sentences;
- translations;
- pronunciation guidance;
- IPA;
- mnemonics;
- pronunciation audio;
- other educational information.
The Natiq educational dataset and original pronunciation audio were created by Amir Alaushen.
Natiq aims to provide accurate and useful content, but educational content may contain mistakes and may be corrected or improved over time.
Natiq should not be treated as the sole authoritative source for professional, legal, medical, academic, or other specialized decisions.
10. Collaborator Mode and contributions
Natiq may allow users to suggest corrections or improvements.
Possible contributions may concern:
- meanings;
- translations;
- pronunciations;
- IPA;
- parts of speech;
- mnemonics;
- example sentences;
- sentence translations;
- audio problems.
Creating a local edit does not automatically send it to Natiq Application.
A contribution leaves your device only when you deliberately choose to submit or share it.
Contributions may be sent to:
natiq.application@gmail.com
Contribution rights
By submitting a contribution after accepting the applicable contribution notice, you grant permission for that contribution to be:
- reviewed;
- edited;
- modified;
- combined with other content;
- incorporated into Natiq;
- published;
- redistributed
under the applicable Natiq educational-content license.
The intended educational-content license is:
Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).
You must submit only material that:
- you created;
- you have permission to contribute; or
- you otherwise have the legal right to license on those terms.
Do not copy protected material from dictionaries, websites, books, applications, courses, or other sources unless you have the required rights.
Submitting a contribution does not guarantee that Natiq Application will accept or use it.
11. Intellectual property and separate licenses
Different parts of Natiq are subject to different intellectual-property terms.
Software source code
When Natiq's application source code is publicly released, it is intended to be distributed under the Apache License, Version 2.0.
Educational content
Natiq-created educational content, including the Natiq educational dataset and Natiq-created pronunciation audio, is intended to be distributed under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0, unless a particular item states otherwise.
Branding
The Natiq name, Natiq Application name, logo, icons, visual identity, trademarks, trade dress, and other branding are not automatically licensed under the Apache License 2.0 or CC BY-NC-SA 4.0.
All rights in Natiq branding are reserved except where permission is expressly granted.
Third-party material
Third-party software, fonts, libraries, or other materials remain subject to their own applicable licenses.
12. Open-source versions and forks
Publishing Natiq's source code as open source does not make every part of Natiq unrestricted.
The applicable open-source license controls rights concerning source code covered by that license.
These Terms do not reduce rights granted by the applicable open-source license.
Third parties may create modified versions where allowed by that license.
Unless explicitly authorized, third-party modified versions:
- are not official Natiq releases;
- must not imply endorsement by Natiq Application;
- must not misleadingly present themselves as the official Natiq App.
Natiq Application is not responsible for changes, data practices, security, or behavior introduced by unofficial versions.
13. Acceptable use
You agree not to intentionally use Natiq in a way that:
- violates applicable law;
- infringes another person's intellectual-property rights;
- submits material you do not have the right to contribute;
- falsely represents an unofficial version as an official Natiq release;
- maliciously interferes with application operation or distribution.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to restrict legitimate rights granted by the applicable open-source software license.
14. Maintenance and developer functionality
Natiq may contain maintenance or development functionality for testing, diagnosis, support, recovery, or development.
Such functionality may alter:
- vocabulary state;
- learning history;
- time;
- statistics;
- streaks;
- time-bank balances;
- profile state;
- other application information.
Use these functions carefully.
Some maintenance actions may be difficult or impossible to reverse.
15. No advertisements or paid services
The current Natiq application is intended to be free to use.
It does not contain advertising, paid subscriptions, or in-app purchases.
If this business model changes in the future, applicable terms and disclosures may be updated.
16. Privacy
Use of Natiq is also subject to the Natiq Privacy Policy available through Natiq and at:
NatiqApplication.com
The Privacy Policy describes how local profile information, learning information, backups, contributions, permissions, and other information are handled.
17. Younger users
Natiq is intended for users aged 13 and older and is not specifically directed to children under 13.
Users who have not reached full legal capacity under applicable law should use Natiq with the permission or supervision of a parent or legal guardian where required.
18. Application availability and updates
Natiq Application may:
- improve the App;
- correct errors;
- update educational content;
- add or remove functionality;
- change device-support requirements;
- release new versions.
Natiq Application does not guarantee that every feature or device will remain supported indefinitely.
Where reasonably possible, compatible updates should preserve valid learner information.
19. No warranty
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Natiq is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
No guarantee is made that Natiq will:
- always operate without interruption;
- be completely error-free;
- work on every device;
- satisfy every learner's needs;
- produce a specific educational outcome;
- preserve data under every possible device, storage, operating-system, or user-error scenario.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits rights or warranties that cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.
20. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Amir Alaushen, Natiq Application, contributors, and applicable licensors are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or similar losses arising from use of or inability to use Natiq.
This may include loss resulting from:
- device loss;
- device failure;
- corrupted storage;
- forgotten backup passwords;
- deleted files;
- user actions;
- third-party applications or storage services;
- unofficial modified versions.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
21. Support
Natiq Application may provide reasonable best-effort support but does not guarantee a particular response time, resolution time, or service level.
Support contact:
natiq.application@gmail.com
22. Ending use
You may stop using Natiq at any time.
You may use available data-deletion features or uninstall the App.
Uninstalling may delete locally stored information depending on your device and operating-system behavior.
Previously exported backups may remain until you separately delete them.
23. Changes to these Terms
These Terms may be updated if Natiq's features, licensing, legal requirements, distribution, or business model changes.
The effective date at the top identifies the current version.
Material changes may be communicated in the App or through the official Natiq website where appropriate.
24. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws and regulations of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer rights or other rights that applicable law does not permit these Terms to exclude.
25. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
26. Entire agreement
These Terms, together with the Natiq Privacy Policy and applicable software, content, contribution, and third-party licenses, form the applicable terms governing your use of the official Natiq application.
Where an open-source license grants rights concerning source code, that open-source license controls those rights.
